Spring 2010 Courses

Medical Terminology
This course will enable students to interpret and understand medical terms needed for effective communication. Word roots, prefixes, suffixes used in the medical field will be covered as well as terms related to general
anatomy, physiology and pathology. This course can enhance your abilities as a PNE student.

Medical Coding
This is an introductory course covering coding concepts, principles and guidelines used in medical/surgical offices to assign medical diagnoses and procedures to patient health records. Prerequisite: Medical Terminology Course

IV THERAPY COURSE - IV Therapy Course for Licensed Practical Nurses
This course is designed to offer LPN’s the basic knowledge necessary to safely assist the registered nurse in administering and monitoring selected peripheral IV medications under the supervision of the registered nurse. You must be a currently licensed practical nurse to take this course.

Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration
The Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration program is 20-months of individualized instruction that prepares students to work in a variety of jobs in the field of air conditioning and refrigeration.
Students are prepared to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain residential and commercial refrigeration, air conditioning, heat pumps, and electrical and gas heating, and humidifiers. Students also learn the fundamentals of electricity, electric motors, and controls.

Industrial Maintenance
The Industrial Maintenance Program is designed to provide entry level skills to accomplish the daily tasks required to maintain equipment. This 16-month program was established by the industry needs of this geographical region. The students take these skills and, using on-the-job training, works towards becoming an accomplished technician.

Machine Tool Technology
This 18-month program develops entry level skills in the set-up and operations of machine tools. Such operations will include lathes, milling machines, power saws, drill presses, and surface grinders. We also train in the set-up and operation of computerized numerical controlled machines and welding applications. Writing computer aided program fundamentals is included in our training curriculum.
Welding Processes
The 12-month program is designed to prepare students for a career in welding using the various welding processes and blueprint reading. The individualized method of instruction provides for both classroom instruction and practical hands on experience using tools and welding equipment. The following processes will be taught: SMAW (stick), MIG, TIG, and Oxyacetylene and Plasma cutting.
