 Heating, Ventilation,
 Air Conditioning/Refrigeration

The heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVACR) field affords many opportunities to interested, motivated individuals who are willing to become proficient in the installation and maintenance areas. Additionally, this skill can become the basis for other career enhancement.

Encompassing many fields, HVACR service persons acquire a working knowledge of chemistry and physics, mechanics, and public relations. They become proficient in the application of electrical power and its control, which is necessary in becoming and remaining successful in this field.

The Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration program at the Tennessee Technology Center at Covington is a comprehensive training experience designed to include the necessary knowledge and skills development, to prepare one to become that successful person.

This is a self-paced program with classroom and shop work including theory, application, and service. A student may start at any time and progress at his/her own pace. Each student is given individual instruction and need not be concerned with keeping up will fellow students. Major books of instruction include electricity, refrigeration, air conditioning, heat pumps, heating and commercial systems.

The program has several exit points whereby a student may choose to leave the program with acquired skill training. Each exit point reached should enable the individual to perform certain tasks that will ordinarily be reflected in the appropriate job description.

A certificate is awarded upon completion of each portion of this course. Upon completion of the entire course, a Diploma, signed by the Chancellor of Tennessee State Board of Regents, is awarded.
